Gentleman At Arms Proves He’s Top Class

Elsewhere at London International, the Champion in the Agria Rising Star Racehorse to Show Horse was Gentleman At Arms, an eight-year-old grey gelding who is owned by Diana Gardiner and ridden by Harriet Hammond.

Gentleman At Arms, who is known as Arthur at home, was trained by Harriet’s father Stuart Edmunds and won six times during his racing career.

“I’m completely over the moon. We’ve had a really difficult year. He’s challenged me a lot, but I stripped everything back, started again, and it’s rewarded me ten times. He’s just the best. I always knew he could do it, it was just getting him to behave to do it,” said Harriet.

“He retired in March 2024 and within six months, he was Supreme Champion at Aintree and then the wheels just kind of fell off. He got very overexcited and thought way too much of himself.

We’ve started jumping him, which gets the fizz out of him completely, and that just seems to have turned him around. I can’t believe it.”

The class, held in the New Horizon Plastics London Arena forms part of the prestigious London International Showing Series Finals. Jill King and the nine-year-old gelding Bottle Hill were crowned Reserve Champions.
