Dressage Stars Confirmed for 2025

Dressage Stars Confirmed for 2025

Confirmed entries for the FEI Dressage World Cup™ leg supported by Horse & Hound at this year’s London International Horse Show have been announced, and as ever the line-up is star-studded with some of Great Britain and Europe’s top riders. The world class dressage takes place across the first two days of the Show. The first round Grand Prix is held on Thursday 18 December, and on Friday 19 December the competition concludes with the Freestyle to Music. The stage is set for fierce competition, with 2024’s top competitors returning to the spotlight along with Olympic medallists and rising stars.

Topping the entries list are last year’s FEI Dressage World Cup™ Freestyle winners, Charlotte Fry (GBR) with her own and Van Olst Horses’s Glamourdale, back to defend their title. The triple Olympic bronze medallist and 2022 World Champion will be looking to add a third win in London to her collection, following victories here in 2022 and 2024. Glamourdale, the famous black stallion by Negro who has been Lottie’s most prolific partner, comes to London following a break after representing Great Britain at the European Dressage Championships.

Lottie will face strong competition from her Olympic teammate and home favourite, Becky Moody (GBR), who rides her own Jagerbomb. Hugely popular with the crowd in London, Becky is one of the Show’s 2025 Ambassadors. The best of the Brits at the Summer’s European Dressage Championships in Crozet, this combination took the FEI Dressage World Cup™ Grand Prix at the Show in 2024, but will be looking to better their eventual fourth place in last year’s Freestyle. Hopes are high, as the pair come to London off the back of a strong performance in Lyon’s FEI Dressage World Cup™ leg in October where they were runner-up.

Returning to the Show is former London champion and highly decorated Olympian, Charlotte Dujardin (GBR) with her Westphalian mare, Alive & Kicking. The pair have made a strong return from Charlotte’s FEI suspension, with wins in the CDI3* Grand Prix and Grand Prix Special in Le Mans in October.

It’s girl power for the host nation as the line-up is completed by two new faces; Germany-based Susan Pape (GBR) and Harmony’s Giulilanta have had a great year, winning April’s CDI4* Grand Prix Special in Hagen (Germany) with a personal best of 73.04%. Meanwhile Sadie Smith (GBR) and Swanmore Dantina are rising stars who had a phenomenal time at the 2025 LeMieux National Dressage Championships, winning the Grand Prix Gold competition. Her victory in the Grand Prix Gold marked her first win in the Grand Prix category at the Nationals.

There could be strong contention from the international field too, not least from Norway’s Isabel Freese and Total Hope OLD. This black stallion by the legendary Totilas, who himself broke the Freestyle World Record in London in 2009, gave a stellar performance at the 2024 Show to put the pair in second place in both sections. However, it could be a father-son ranking, as the Netherlands’s Marieke Van Der Putten brings the Glamourdale son Kuvasz RS2 to contest. The 10-year-old  is certainly one to watch after a solid 2025 season.

Morgan Barbançon (FRA) comes to London off the back of victory in the FEI Dressage World Cup™ leg in Motešice, Slovakia. Her hugely experienced ride, the 19-year-old Sir Donnerhall II OLD, previously competed at London in 2023, finishing fifth. Another younger rider to watch is Moritz Treffinger (GER) and his Hanoverian stallion, Cadeau Noir. The pairing won European U25 Freestyle Championship gold in Kronberg this July.

Show Chairman, Simon Brooks-Ward, commented: “With Olympic medallists, World Cup finalists, and emerging stars of dressage all set to compete at London, the Dressage World Cup™ qualifier supported by Horse & Hound promises to be an unmissable event for equestrian fans and the most exciting way to start the Show. The blend of experience, talent, and heart on display will ensure two days of unforgettable sport, celebrating the very best of international dressage.
